About E. Jay Olivares Law Offices

E. Jay Olivares graduated from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan in June of 1975.  After one year with a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan law firm, and 2 years with the Attorney General's Office, he relocated to Norway, Michigan, where he opened his private law office and has practiced continuously since.

He received his license to practice law in Wisconsin in September 1988 and opened his Crivitz office in June of 1991.  He opened an office in Florence County, Wisconsin in 2003.  

In 2003, Jay became a Certified Family Law Mediator in a program sponsored by the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education.  Jay is also a Certified Guardian ad Litem (GAL) in the State of Wisconsin.  He has served as counsel for the First National Bank of Norway and the City of Norway for over a quarter of a century.   

Mr. Olivares acts, as needed, as a Special District Attorney for Florence County, Wisconsin, and regularly serves as Court Appointed Guardian ad Litem and Advocate in Florence and Marinette Counties, Wisconsin.

Mr. Olivares served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Dickinson County from January 1982 to February 1985.

Mr. Olivares served as Chief Judge of the Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Court from October 2003 to October 2006. 

Mr. Olivares' areas of practice include domestic relations including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation enforcement issues under Judgments of Divorce; general civil litigation, criminal law, real estate, probate, wills, deeds and trusts.

He regularly attends seminars in Michigan and Wisconsin directly relating to his areas of practice in order to keep abreast of all developments in the law.

Mr. Olivares is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association and the Marinette and Dickinson County Bar Associations.

Mr. Olivares regularly practices throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in Northeast Wisconsin, including Brown County, Oconto County, Marinette County, Florence County and Forest County.
